The 48-year-old actress sat down on a London Tube and barely anyone noticed. Cate Blanchett was traveling with her 52-year-old husband, Andrew Upton, and she sat down to blend in with the passengers.
A commuter recognized her and took a snap of her. The eagle-eyed snapper said: ‘She was busy in conversation with her director husband, so she did not pay attention to the surrounding. Blanchett did not even see me while I was taking the photo.’
The Oscar-winning star always gives a glamorous look in the spotlight on the Red carpet. Last month, she went on the red carpet in Geneva, Switzerland.
The commuter, who clicked her on the tube, is an art student. He said: ‘I jumped on the tube at Mornington Crescent and looked at her sitting there. I have no words to describe what I feel at that moment. She is my favorite actress. She was not wearing any makeup or accessories, but she was still looking damn gorgeous.’
‘It was early in the morning, so her natural look came out which made her even more stunning. People were in hurry to go to their workplaces, so nobody recognize her.’
In 1996, the Academy Award-winning actress met Andrew on the set of a TV show. Both fell in love with each other and decided to tie the knots in December 1997. Cate Blanchett gave birth to three sons, Dashiell, 17, Roman, 14, and 9-year-old Ignatius. They also adopted a baby girl, Edith, to fulfill the need for a daughter. She is 9-year-old now.
In 2016, Andrew caught the attention of the people when he spent a night in Sydney. He went there for an outing night with his friends including Harriet Dyer, the actress of Love Child. After a few weeks, someone captured them standing inside a bar with their arms around one another.
They held hands with each other and then came out of the bar to hail a taxi.
After hearing all the gossip, Andrew told me about his relationship with 27-year-old Harriet. He said:
‘Harriet is a good friend of mine, but we are not dating. Our relationship is strictly platonic.’
In 2006, Andrew and Cate celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. The high profile couple chose to visit different places on their special day. They visited a Los Angeles mansion, a Sydney apartment in the historic Astor building, and a countryside manor in East Sussex.
They are living a very happy life and have become compulsory for each other over time.
The person who took their photo on the Tube did not want to reveal his name. He described the couple as:
‘Cate was discussing something with her husband and he was listening to her with full attention. They forgot everything around them. It was a lovely experience to see a couple chatting with eyes for one another. They were in their bubble and did not even look up once. I was unable to hear them, but for sure they were talking about something of great interest.’
The onlooker further said: ‘I did not know where they were going. I got off at Tottenham Court Road, but they were still present on the Tube with their deep conversation.’
Cate, the mother of four, has blonde hair with streaks. She was wearing large black-framed glasses, check wool trousers and jacket, and chunky black sneakers. She wrapped up herself in multiple layers due to the bitter cold. The actress tucked her blonde hair behind her ears and was holding a black leather bag.
Her husband Andrew was wearing socks of pea green color and a brown leather satchel.
